    Want to get into drawing but don’t know where to begin? Try this class! We will focus on exercises that increase both your confidence and understanding of drawing. We’ll go over traditional materials and techniques as well as some more modern and unconventional ways to approach rendering objects on paper. You can look forward to learning skills including perspective, value scales, and still life drawing from observation. Even if you’re a seasoned artist, returning to the basics can be helpful. All skill levels are welcome!  Three 2 1/2 hour sessions.

    MATERIAL LIST

    *I’ve listed my recommendations here but I am very flexible in terms of what “type” of each material you get. The item in bold is the necessity and if you have something in that category, bring it along! You can always get something else with your 20% discount at the store if your item doesn’t work.

    ·A sketchbook! - 9x12 Drawing is standard

    ·At least 3 drawing pencils of varying "hardnesses” - I recommend HB, 4B & 8B for a good variance

    ·Eraser – I like the white plastic ones

    ·Ruler or straight edge

    ·3D object to draw

    oThis should be something that can easily sit on a table, is not metallic or fully transparent (like glass), and has interesting shape / texture / both !

    ·Color! – colored pencil works best but anything you can “draw” with is good
