Join us for a short, inspiring exploration of the life and work of Georgia O’Keeffe, one of the most influential figures in American modern art. Known for her iconic paintings of flowers, sweeping desert landscapes, and natural forms, O’Keeffe played a pivotal role in shaping modern art in the United States. In the 1920s, she became the first female painter to gain widespread recognition in New York’s art world. While frequently associated with feminist themes, O’Keeffe resisted being labeled a “woman artist,” insisting instead on being recognized simply as an artist.
In this hands-on class, students will learn about O’Keeffe’s life, artistic vision, and unique approach to abstraction while experimenting with watercolor techniques. Drawing inspiration from natural forms, participants will create their own abstract compositions, exploring shape, color, and personal expression in a relaxed and supportive setting.
