SATURDAY 10/28/17 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Whether you're new to oil paint, returning to painting, or an experienced artist looking to branch out, this workshop is designed to familiarize you with oil paint and energize your studio practice. We'll explore topics including basic materials, color, value, and mixing,
as well as the all- important question:
"What should I paint?" Begin exploring oil painting, or tone your painting muscles!

Oregon Art Supply is generously offering a 20% discount on all materials for this class!
If you aren’t sure what to get, you can purchase what you need during the workshop.
I will be happy to help and show you what I use!

Palette - a 12x16 (or larger) disposable paper palette pad. Get white, not gray.

Palette knife – not a teeny one. You want to be able to scoop up a pile of paint with it.

Rags or paper towels (I like disposable blue shop towels, available at hardware stores)

Solvent: Gamsol or Turpenoid

  • 2 glass jars with tight-fitting lids
  • Paint - I use M. Graham brand. Please include the following colors:
  • Titanium white
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Cadmium Yellow (medium)

Brushes - I use taklon (synthetic, white bristles) and hog bristle, but it's up to your preference. I recommend a range of sizes from #2 to #6. Rounds, and Filberts.

View Finder
Purchasing a plastic view finder from an art supply store is a

great, small investment. A tool I use daily.

Cleanup: Murphy’s oil soap or The Master’s Brush Cleaner and Preserver

Canvases or other painting surfaces:

canvas panels, a pad of canvas paper, or any inexpensive painting surface

Easel and side table

A standing travel easel. Sometimes called a french easel.

A TV table or side table for your palette (optional! the smaller the better)

**For a refund on any of our classes, we will need to be notified at least two days in advance of the first class. Please contact us by phone or in person to guarantee that you get refunded for the class you are canceling. All Students enrolled in classes receive 20% off on all Oregon Art Supply materials purchased for their class.
